Awareness

On one level, awareness is having the understanding of where you fit into your space and environment.

On another level, it’s being awake to how your role interacts with others.

These may seem like similar things, but they have a significant difference.

The first is what allows us to take care of ourselves and give us goals to attempt to achieve.

I’m a junior program developer and want to become a senior program developer.

The second though, takes into account others when arriving at our goals.

I’m a new parent and want to be the best father I can be for my child.

Being aware and awake about your surroundings and the people your decisions impact isn’t easy. It takes effort, skill, and humbleness.

But if you’re running a business, organization, or family, it’s the right thing to do.
